Easter Hope

John 20:1-18

Sermon Notes

Ice Breaker: What is the biggest thing that you have hoped for?

Read John 20: 1-18

Who was present at the cross of Christ?  Who was not present?

Why is it that when Christ died, Christianity also died?

When Mary says, “They have taken my Lord away” how is she also saying, “They have taken my hope away”?

Why were the disciples so confused when they came to the empty tomb? What do you think was going through their minds?

There is a perception that if you have faith, you need to set aside logic and reason.  How do the disciples disprove this idea?

What happened when Jesus called Mary by name? Why is this so surprising? Why is it so significant? How does this restore her hope?

How might Jesus be calling you by name?  What is it that He wants you to know?  How will you respond?

What was the reaction to the news that Jesus had been raised from the dead?  Why is this reaction so understandable?

How does the resurrection of Jesus give you hope? What difference will that hope make in your life?
