Icebreaker: If you could create a list of “relational rules” that everyone had to follow when they were around you, what would be on your list?

Read Colossians 3:12–17

• What stands out to you most in this passage? Why?

• Paul begins by reminding us that we are “God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved.” How should knowing who we are in Christ change the way we see ourselves and treat others?

• Paul tells us to “clothe” ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Which of these comes most naturally to you? Which one is the biggest challenge?

• Why do you think Paul uses the picture of putting on these qualities? What would it look like to intentionally “put them on” this week?

• Verse 13 says, “Bear with each other and forgive one another.” Why are both of these necessary when imperfect people live and serve together?

• Paul tells us to “forgive as the Lord forgave you.” How does remembering the grace God has given us change the way we respond when someone hurts or disappoints us?

• Verse 14 says, “Over all these virtues put on love.” Why is love so important to the health and unity of a church?

• What do you think a church would look and feel like if Colossians 3:12–17 truly shaped the way its people treated one another?
