Trellis: A Jesus-Shaped Life…”Witness”- 9/27/26

Icebreaker: What is something you have been really thirsty for?  When have you thought, “If I could just have this, things would be better”?

Read John 4:1-42

• Jesus enters Samaria and begins a conversation with someone others would have avoided. What barriers does Jesus cross to reach this woman? Who are the people we can easily overlook or avoid?

• Jesus tells the woman that he can give her “living water.” What do you think she was really thirsty for?  What were the wells that people go to in order to quench their thirst?

• Jesus knows this woman’s whole story…including the broken parts…and still moves toward her. What does that tell you about the heart of Jesus toward people who are struggling or far from God?

• What was the Good News that Jesus shared with the Samaritan woman? 

• By the end of the story, the woman who came to the well alone is running back to her community telling people about Jesus. What changed in her? What does her story teach us about how Jesus can use our past, even if it’s messy. 

• The woman didn’t have a theology degree or all the answers—she simply told people what Jesus had done for her. If someone asked, “What difference has Jesus made in your life?” What would you tell them?

• Craig Groeschel says, “In order to reach people that no one is reaching, then you are going to have to start doing what no one is doing.”  What are some of the things you are willing to start doing to reach people that are far from God?

• Who is one person God may be inviting you to move toward this week?
