Icebreaker: In his Psalm David reminds us that God has a long fuse (v.8) a short memory (v.9) thick skin (v.10) and a big heart (v.11-13). How would you summarize this passage in your own words?

Read Psalms 103: 8-13

  • What are the words that David used to describe God’s love for us? 
  • Are these the same words that you would use to describe yourself and others? 
  • Psalms 103: 8.  How have you experienced the “long fuse” of God?  How has that impacted you?
  • Psalms 103: 9.  How have you experienced the “short memory” of God?  How has that impacted you? 
  • Psalms 103: 10.  How have you experienced the “thick skin” of God?  How has that impacted you? 
  • Psalms 103: 11-13.  How have you experienced the “big heart” of God?  How has that impacted you? 
  • Why is it easy to know about this kind of love in our heads but accept it in our hearts? 
  • Have you discovered that your standards for forgiving yourself or others is higher than God’s standard?  Why is that? 
  • How does this passage help you to become more like God, instead of expecting God to become more like you? 
  • How does this passage help you to see the heart of God more clearly? 
  • How does this passage help you to grow deeper in your relationship with God, yourself and others?
