Sermon Notes

Take Notes Here:

Ice Breaker:  What emotions does the word “conflict” stir up?

What was the most important thing you learned about from the sermon this week?

What is the Bible’s definition of peace?  How does it differ from our cultures?

Read Matthew 5:23-24

Why does Jesus place such a high priority on peacemaking and conflict resolution?

What exactly is Jesus asking us to do?

In his book, Crucial Conversations, Joseph Grenny reminds us that in conflict we can often tell ourselves stories that shape the conversation.  They are:

  • Victim stories – “it’s all my fault”
  • Villain stories – “it’s all their fault”
  • Helpless stories – “there’s nothing I can do”

Have you noticed these stories in your own life?

Read the Good Sam Compass

How does this help us to change the story that we may be telling ourselves and reorient us to the story God wants to write?

Which Compass points will best guide you this week?

Read Romans 12:18

What is God calling you to do this week?  Who do you need to seek out? What conversation do you need to have?
