Rebuilding Trust with Yourself

Sermon Notes:

Application Questions:

Read John 21:1-17.

Share about a time in your life when you lost trust in yourself.

What was Peter really saying in John 21:4?

When trust breaks down, why is it easier to go back to your old life rather than to invest in your future?

What were all the things that Jesus did in this passage to invite Peter back into a relationship and reinstate him in ministry?

Read Luke 5: 1-11.

How are these two passages similar? Why is this significant?

Why did Jesus ask Peter if he loved him three separate times?

Jesus asked Peter to “Feed his sheep.”  What is Jesus asking you to do?

Is there a location that represents a past failure of yours that Jesus is inviting you to revisit so that you can be recalled and reinstated into relationship and ministry?

How did Peter’s actions align with his words after Jesus restored him?  How did this build self-trust in Peter’s life?
