Toolbox…Story

2 Corinthians 3:3

Take Notes Here:

Icebreaker: If your story were captured in a book, what genre would it be?  Drama, Action, Comedy, Mystery, Thriller, Romance….?

Today’s Big Idea: Your blessedness and your brokenness reveal the story God is writing in you.

3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:3

  • How would you describe the story that God is writing in you?

  • Are you content with your own understanding of your story, your own interpretation of the events of your life?

  • Have you considered that Jesus may be writing a different story, providing fresh meaning to the events of your life?

As you reflect on your story, you may want to break it into different seasons.

What are the seasons where you have experienced blessings?

What are the blessings that have shaped your story?

They may be:

  • Vocational accomplishments
  • Academic successes
  • Relational achievements
  • Spiritual breakthroughs

How did Jesus use blessings to write your story?

What are the seasons you have experienced brokenness?

What is the brokenness that has shaped your story?

It may be:

  • Hurts
  • Harmful habits
  • Hang-ups
  • Personal, vocational, relational and spiritual places of pain

How did Jesus use brokenness to write your story?

Read Romans 8:28. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

How have you experienced this truth in your own life?

How does accepting, understanding and honoring our story help us to increase our love for God, each other and our community?
