Trellis: A Jesus-Shaped Life…”Generosity”- 9/20/26
Ice Breaker: When you hear the word “generosity,” what immediately comes to mind?
Read 2 Corinthians 9: 6 – 8
- Generosity is intended to remind people of God’s generosity. When have you experienced someone’s generosity in a way that helped you see God differently?
- Why do you think Jesus wants generosity to become a way of life rather than simply something we do when a need arises?
- Describe in your own words the law of reaping and sowing that Paul describes. What does Paul mean and what doesn’t he mean?
- Paul says we should decide in our hearts what to give rather than responding to guilt or pressure. Why does generosity need to be intentional and planned?
- What fears tend to keep us from being generous? What are we afraid of losing?
- On Sunday we heard, “God measures generosity not by the size of the gift but by the size of the sacrifice.” How does that change the way we think about what it means to be generous?
- According to verse 8, what is the purpose of God’s provision in our lives? How is that different from the way we normally think about God’s blessing?
- What’s one specific act of generosity you could intentionally practice this week?
